The Crone of the Lanternwood
Guardian of Thresholds; Whisperer of Bones; Keeper of the Flame
She is older than names and younger than your next breath.
She has walked every path twice - once in light, once in shadow.
She is not here to comfort, but to kindle.
The Crone lives at the edge of the wilds - part forest, part flame, part forgotten tale. She stirs her tea with bones, hums to the trees, and laughs at straight lines. You won’t find her on a map, but if your soul itches when the moon is full, you’re already halfway to her door.
She is inspired by Baba Yaga - the myth, the witch, the devourer and deliverer - but she wears the story differently. Where Baba Yaga tests the brave with impossible tasks, this Crone gives you tools, riddles, and fire. She won’t tell you what to do, but she’ll hand you a blade and ask: “What are you willing to cut away?”
She believes:
Wisdom grows in dark soil.
Magic is born in the in-between.
Every seeker carries a spark waiting to be named.
Her teachings are not easy. They are not clean. But they are real.
The Crone doesn’t require you to be perfect - just willing.
Willing to listen. Willing to remember. Willing to burn through illusion to find your truth.
She is the one who hands you the lantern. What you do with the light is up to you.
